Do I Really Need a Jogging Stoller?
I have read lots of differing opinions.
Some say "absolutely, yes," some say "nah," others say "only if you are an avid runner."
So, I thought that I would try it myself.
I have a "regular" stroller in which the front wheels lock. That was the biggest tip that I found. Lock the front wheels.
So, on my first week jogging, I locked the front wheels and proceeded to jog with the boy.
Where we jog is a paved and fairly flat path in town called the Greenway. It's beautiful and only has one hill, but has two wooden bridges on our stretch of path.
The turns didn't take long to get used to. The hill is a bear, but my outta shape butt probably has more to do with that. The first bridge wasn't a problem. BUT....
the second bridge doesn't exactly flow into the pavement seamlessly. On my first run, I started jogging, hit the second bridge, the stroller bucked, my kindle jostled and my water bottle went over the side. Not just the side of the stroller, but the side of the bridge. So, on the way back, I had to climb down to retrieve it.
Now, I could see how the amenities of a jogging stroller could be a benefit. The wrist strap would keep the stroller from escaping on the downhill part of the run and the handbrake would probably come in handy too.
I imagine that the smoother ride of a jogging stroller would probably add to my performance, but, lets face it, I am training for my first 5K and I am one week, two sessions, into jogging. My performance at this point would bite with or without the jogging stroller. The whole point of getting one would be just for the boy's comfort (and maybe a little bit of ease in dealing with the second bridge...)

Happy Birthday Trystan!
You weigh 22 lbs. 4 ozs. You are 29 inches long.
You don't talk much beyond "Mama" and "Dada," but you try and you often mimick our tone and even sounds for words like "up" and "wanna bite."
You love to watch "My First Signs" by Baby Einstein and you have watched it almost every day since you were 3 months old, and yet you refuse to sign anything more than "milk."
You have been walking for three months and get around very well, except when you are tired, then you are a little clutz.
You love to eat anything sweet! You will recognize my bag of Peanut M&Ms from 50 yards away and will eat almost anything fruit related. You love to gnaw on a chicken bone, a cob of corn, and even an apple.
You aren't fond of peaches or green beans, and near your 9 month mark, I tried to give you Jello. You subsequently refused to trust me feeding you for weeks after!
You're a crappy sleeper, who absolutely refuses to sleep alone!
You just recently stopped nursing every 3 hours around the clock and, if I am lucky, I get to sleep from 11pm to about 4am without nursing you.
Daddy is the best, out of the two of us, at putting you to sleep. You try to fight, but you just can't ignore his baritone.
You are also a little daredevil who likes to push off from Daddy's chest to land in the pillows and can never wait for him to count to 3.
Every time that the phone rings, you think that it is time to talk to Papaw, even though you won't make a peep on the phone and usually end up trying to push the buttons.
You love Peek-a-boo Pop Up books.
You are a little social butterfly who is never happier than with an audience.
You love your sissies and get excited whenever they come home because then it is time to play. I think that they get a little tired of always taking you outside.
You are simply a joy in all of our lives!

Much Needed Update
It has been quite a long time since I posted and there is a lot that has changed!
Number one: We have a third child! God graced us with a little boy on May 2, 2014. (I can't believe he is 9 months old already!)
Number two: I am no longer a working mom, I get to stay home with the boy. (Yay me!)
Number three: My hubby changed careers from Teacher to Director our church's after school care program. (Am I really going to be a minister's wife?)
I promise that I will update you in more detail in posts to come.
