Two Only Kids Together

Has anyone else encountered this? My husband and I both had children before we married, we each had and only child. I think that this has created a unique situation. Every family usually has a harmonious breakdown of members....mom and/or dad, oldest child (the boss), middle child (the forgotten one), the youngest (the baby). Me and my husband however have a unique situation...we have two only children meshing together.

I worked hard to try and break my daughter, the oldest of the two girls, of her "follower" tendencies. I know what a cruel world we live in and a "follower" can often follow the wrong people.  My step-daughter, on the other hand, is a "teacher's kid" and as such feels that she owns and/or runs every situation. It was quite comical tonight that, even though she has never played soccer, she was the coaches kid so before practice, she tried to instruct several of the kids on how to kick the ball and where to go.

Do you see my plight? Two girls, neither of them being a follower, neither of them wanting to follow instruction?
