My daughter made a very exciting decision today! She made her decision for Christ and wants to be baptized! I am very excited. This is actually something that she has been struggling with for about four months now. I, of course, had no idea how to help her, except through prayer. We have been through the ringer lately. Lots of stress to deal with and I have prayed earnestly that she would make her decision. I was about two years younger than her when I asked Jesus into my heart and it changed my life.
After the initial exictement of my daughter's decision, I sat down and talked to her. One of the things that has hurt a lot of Christians is the belief that when they ask Jesus into their heart, then their life will be great. So I sat down with my daughter and made sure that she understands that by asking Jesus into her heart, she is not erasing all her problems, he is not a genie in a bottle. I did something that I don't think most parents would do, I shared with my daughter the fact that being a Christian is sometimes harder than not. I didn't go into all the persecution of Christians, etc. but I did make sure that she understood that resisting sin is not easy.
All that said. This is a day that I am very excited to get here. I am also very proud of my "little" girl for making such a big decision!
