I would have to say that we started the weekend off with a bang. My grandmother and grandfather drove down from Reidsville and picked up our oldest for the weekend. The hubby and I dropped Andie off for her first sleep over and then we headed off to the Dixie Classic Fair. We spent every dime in our pockets, but it was so worth it!
We rode the big Ferris wheel (thank you hubby!) and the Musik Express (aka the Himalaya) three times. The hubby played darts and won me a white tiger. I played the ball game thingy (you know the one) and won a gold fish, which I have fittingly named Dixie. We ran into some of the hubby's students and an old co-worker of mine. We were at the fair until they turned the rides off and I had a blast. I think the hubby had fun too.
Saturday was a bit more relaxing. We got up early to pick Andie up at her friends house, since they were heading to the fair early. Other than that, we went to CiCi's for lunch and Andie and I hung out at home while Danny performed for a birthday party. (My hubby is a "Mad Scientist" for Mad Science of the Piedmont.)
My step-daughter really melted my heart at lunch. After 2 1/2 years, Andie asked me if she could call me "Mom" when she wants to. I don't want to step on any toes, but I can't turn her down!
After our great time at the fair, we were desperate to share it with our girls. My hubby was scheduled to teach our Sunday School Class, so he took Andie to church while I went to pick up Alyssa. Then we had a great time with the girls at the fair. Of course, we hit the Ferris wheel first, but after that, we stayed for about 9 hours! I took Alyssa on the roller coaster, the pirate ship, and the swings. It was great!
On the pirate ship, Alyssa was convinced that she was going to die, but on the "Ring of Fire" I was scared and she said "it's okay mommy, just keep praying." Love her!
Andie was the cutest thing riding "Elmo" the pony and carrying her Hello Kitty all around the fair grounds! She didn't complain once! Over all, I am worn out, but I wouldn't trade it for anything!
