30 Days of Thankfulness - Day 11

As most of America today, I am thankful for our armed forces, not just the veterans, but the active military and everyone behind the scenes. One difference, I am thankful for them everyday. I am sure that most of my friends are too, but sadly there are a lot of people out there who are not.

I am an Army brat. I know what some of these families go through. I moved every year of my childhood, I went without a father a lot of times (whether if was because he was in the field for a week or in Korea for three years). I also have an uncle in the Army. In just the last few years, he has been to Korea for a few years and then to the Middle East twice. He did everything he could to avoid Iraq, but ended up doing all that his superiors asked and then going to Iraq anyway.

The life of our servicemen is not easy. But, if we didn't have people willing to make those sacrifices, we wouldn't have the freedom that we do. So, if you get the opportunity, thank a soldier (not just today, but every day).
