Back on the Horse

I have taken several much needed days now to lick my wounds and now it's time to get back on the horse. It's time to delve back in Beth Moore's book So Long, Insecurity.

She is clothed in strength and dignity. Proverbs 31:25

This is the verse that Beth refers to in her journey to overcome insecurity. Wow!

She is clothed...
Wow! I don't know about you, but when I am feeling insecure that is just what I want, as much clothing as I can get. I don't want anyone to see me vulnerable.

Beth at least admits that she allows, or is comfortable with God seeing her vulnerabilities, but I am not even there. When I am insecure I try to hide, even from Him.

...with strength...
Nothing makes a woman feel weaker than insecurity. She may try to hid behind pride (I do it all the time), but inside, she feel weak and unworthy.

...and dignity.
Okay, so what is dignity? When I think of dignity, I immediately picture pride, but that's not it. Pride is a "counterfeit" of dignity, it is a bad copy.

Beth speaks of women reclaiming their dignity. We were not instructed to be submissive to our husbands, but not to lose our dignity. And yet, we don't reclaim our dignity at the cost of our humility...

So, what is dignity? In other areas of the Bible, the same word for dignity is also translated as honor.

To possess dignity is to be worthy of respect. You are worthy of respect.
